Aluminium Hydroxide

Aluminium Hydroxide is a white, amorphous powder or gel. It is insoluble in water but dissolves in acids and bases (amphoteric nature). Stable under normal conditions but dehydrates when heated to form Aluminium Oxide.

Common uses of Aluminium Hydroxide:

• Acts as a flocculant in water treatment to remove impurities.
• Used in plastics, rubber and coatings as a flame retardant due to its ability to release water upon heating.
• Precursor to Aluminium Oxide (alumina), used in ceramics, glass and catalyst production.
• Used as a filler and coating agent in paper and fabric production.
