Nexchem Ltd are distributors of Monoammonium Phosphate

Monoammonium Phosphate (MAP) is a chemical compound with the formula NH₄H₂PO₄. It is a white crystalline solid or granular powder. It is hygroscopic, meaning it can absorb moisture from the air, so it is often found in the form of small, dense crystals or grains.

Common uses of Monoammonium Phosphate:

  • Primary Use: MAP is primarily used as a fertiliser because it is a rich source of Nitrogen (N) and Phosphorus (P), two essential nutrients for plant growth. It has a nitrogen content of about 11% and phosphorus content of around 52%.
  • Application: It is commonly used in agriculture to improve soil fertility and boost crop yield. It can be applied to a wide variety of crops, including cereals, vegetables and fruits.
  • In Fire Suppression: MAP is used in certain types of dry chemical fire extinguishers, particularly for fires involving flammable liquids or electrical equipment. It works by interrupting the chemical reaction of the fire.
  • In the Production of Other Chemicals: MAP is used as a feedstock in the production of other chemicals such as Ammonium Polyphosphate, which is used in flame retardants.
  • Soil Conditioner: It can help improve the nutrient content of soil, particularly in soils that are deficient in phosphorus.
