Thiourea Dioxide

Thiourea dioxide (TDO), also known as formamidine sulfinic acid, is a white, crystalline powder that is odourless and stable under dry conditions. It is soluble in water and decomposes upon heating, releasing sulphur dioxide and other gases.

Common uses of Thiourea Dioxide:

• Textile Industry – Used as a reducing agent for bleaching and decolorizing textiles, especially in the removal of vat dyes and indigo from denim.
• Paper and Pulp Industry – Acts as a bleaching agent to improve the brightness and whiteness of paper without damaging the fibres.
